Case Study: Digital Platform Creation
A client came to us looking to compete in the streaming market, wanting a platform that allowed them to upload content for users to purchase on pay per view (PPV) or subscription (SVOD). Whilst there would be one user type, there would be multiple payment types. This particular Digital Platform creation was simple enough in the initial design but it came with some additional parameters. The client wanted to present media at up to 8k image quality in both live and recorded media.
This created a challenge in the delivery of the content, due to the bitrate of the higher quality media. In order to do this we created modules that were capable of seamlessly altering the data rates and quality to suit the users player and connection. We did this in a way that allowed the users to selectively control the quality and data rates or to opt for auto data control.
Our clients platform was a huge success for them and since the commercial success of that product, they reached out to us to build a second platform, this time with two user types.
The second platform we created for this client had two different users, one of the buy side, another on the sell side, while the client sat in the middle taking commissions for providing the platform. This platform type is similar to eBay, Airbnb, in that client portal itself doesn’t actually sell anything, other than the platform on which to transact.
This platform was also a great success for this client and when combined with some key marketing they quickly gained traction in the market.
